Louisiana Pham is a 31 year old nail artist who runs the Orchid Nail Lounge in Santa Clara, California. Specialises in creating one-off designs for high-end customers for over two years. She often is approached by her clients who ask her to create truly unique pieces of nail art that you can’t find anywhere else.
However, one of her clients asked her to really create something special a couple of years ago as they were attended Hemp Con a marijuana trade fair and wanted something to make a statement piece at the show. Pham can remember being taken aback when her client asked her to draw weed on her nails. Pham said OK as long as her client would bring her own weed.
On the day of he clients nails being done, Pham painted the nails that weren’t decorated with week in a gold glitter and black to represent the cannabis oil and when her client showed the nails at the convention, everyone went made for them.
Over the last couple of years as some places in the States slowly have begun to legalise cannabis for personal use only, many other clients have taken the opportunity to get their ‘weed nails’ done as well.

Some clients have even asked to have their nails done using $100 dollar bills, mixed with the week, which has taken the nail art on to a new level!! Other unusual requests in recent months have also included ‘fur nails’ and ‘bubble nails’ and there seems no end to Pharms creativity.
The nails are created by crushing up a bit of the client’s medicinal weed into tiny pieces. Then Pham encapsulated the leaves in gel polish on every other nail. Rather than supply the weed herself, Pham asks her clients to bring their own. The overall nail/weed polish and manicure usually costs $65
We haven’t seen this in the UK, but I am sure it will only be time!!
